We are at the starting block! The 2018 new season is coming.

Dear historical, new and future friends we announce you the opening of the 2018 season starting from May 12th. We have turned on the engines and we are ready to start again with some important new entries in our close-knit team: Sergio Balistreri will lead the whole team in his role as Director and Agostino, the new Chef, who will reveal to subscribers to the newsletter some secrets of traditional Sardinian cuisine. Our enthusiasm and dedication are some ingredients for an unforgettable holiday that will produce benefits even on your return. We will offer you unique experiences to live in this territory, and we will select for you the most important events in Pula and Cagliari.

For the next month, we propose you a welcome return, Carmen, a sanguine and beloved drama by Georges Bizet, on stage from June 22 to July 3 for ten evenings, in the original French language with surtitles in Italian. The opera, directed by Stephen Medcalf ( 2006 “Franco Abbiati Prize” for Carmen), in an ideal reinterpretation of classical Spain, “theater” of the contrasting sentimental events of Carmen, Don José, Micaela and Escamillo, is set at the beginning of the 1940s, during the Second World War and the totalitarian regime of Francisco Franco. The “Teatro Lirico of Cagliari” is dressed in passion, instincts and the continuous alternation of dualisms like love and hate, freedom and bond, male and female.

Travelling from Cagliari to Pula, you can’t not stop for a visit to the Fishermen’s Village, a small paradise in front of the city. Just 1.5 km away from the centre of Cagliari, Giorgino, was founded in 1939 under the fascist regime for the fishermen of the area and is still a reality in which its inhabitants continue to keep alive the traditions and customs of the village. In this sense, the celebration of “Sant’Efisio” plays a predominant role for the community of Giorgino: fishermen are the only ones that go with the Saint to the church that is located in the village. Here is stripped of every embellishments to wear the country dress. Even the inhabitants of the village wear a simple dress, unlike those rich and showy of the rest of the Sardinia’s country. In fact, the female version is almost devoid of jewels and leads to the colours of the sea. Another peculiarity is that the man is strictly barefoot.
