Things to do and see

During your stay at Hotel Baia di Nora, not only will you have the chance to relax far away from the chaos of cities and busy tourist locations, but you will also discover that there is much more to do and see here than what you think.

During your holiday you may practice sports, take long strolls along the sea and also go out on excursions and visit the archaeological sites and the beautiful beaches of South Sardinia that are nearby.

Sports and activities

You can have fun at the hotel playing bowls, going to the gym or playing ping pong, but you can also play golf at Circolo Golf Is Molas, an 18 hole golf course only 6 km from the hotel.

You can also take wind surf, sailing, water skiing and snorkeling lessons nearby or if you prefer, have fun in the hotel’s tennis court or five-a-side football pitch.

Beaches in South Sardinia

What will surprise you when you go out and discover the area around the hotel, is how the landscape changes from area to area. There are flat areas with almond trees and olive trees that then turn into long strips of sand and uneven coasts, with old towers built up on hills that still stand against the wind.

While moving towards the most beautiful beaches of South Sardinia, you will certainly be impressed by its wonderful landscape:

Santa Margherita di Pula (9 km – 10 mins.)

There are many white-sand beaches in this area, like Cala Verde, Is Morus and Stella Marina, that all have shallow crystal clear waters, making them perfect for children.

Cala Cipolla di Domus de Maria (19 km – 20 mins.)

Part of beautiful Chia, this inlet lies very close to the remains of the Phoenician city of Bithia and is surrounded by juniper and centuries old pine trees. Its sand is thin and soft and its water is crystal clear.

Su Portu (18 km – 20 mins.)

When you come here you will have the impression of being somewhere else, maybe on a tropical island. We advise you to take a walk up to the hill, where the old Torre di Chia lies, and enjoy the colourful landscape around you, embellished by gold-colour pebbles, cream-colour sand and the sea’s many shades of blue.

Capo Malfatano (23 km – 30 mins.)

It seems like a natural depression, sheltered from the wind with a Spanish tower that dominates the wild landscape of the inlet.

Tuerredda (25 km – 30 mins.)

We advise you to visit this beach, that is considered one of the most beautiful in the whole of Sardinia and is along the road for Teulada. It is an inlet of colours that go from green, to light blue and then to white. From here, you will have the chance to admire the little island of Teuredda, that you can easily swim to if you like.

"We advise you to rent a car and not miss one of the most beautiful views in Europe, leading you towards capo Teulada, and then take a swim in the blue-green waters of Tueredda beach, Piscinni and Capo Zafferano (you can only get here by boat). It will be hard to go home after a holiday like this.........!" (bbbMaldive, Maldive – TripAdvisor)

Nora, the first city of Sardinia

Nora, which is only 800 m from the Hotel, is one of the most important archaeological sites of the Mediterranean. Its origins are Nuraghic, but it was the Phoenicians who founded what many consider the first city of Sardinia, between the 9th and 7th century B.C. An archaeological finding was found here in fact, carrying the name of the island for the very first time.

ts strategic location for the landing of ships attracted the Carthaginian during the 6th century and the Romans later on, who settled down here for a long time.

Today, you can still admire beautiful remains and ruins that overlook the blue-green sea dominated by a sixteenth century tower: a temple and a Punic necropolis, Roman baths, the forum, a theatre and ancient houses.

"The real Sardinia, very different from the snobish North…Nora archaeological site was beautiful and Pula was also very pretty. We reached both by bike from the hotel." (Tessiva, Varese – TripAdvisor)
