Nora is situated between sea and mountains! Here you can find all that you desire: the nature to explore, landscape to admire, ruins of ancient history to look and to study.

1st day: NORA LAGOON

A charming occasion for a straight approach with the sea and with the Lagoon.

The Nora Lagoon area is delimited by the “Fradis Minoris” peninsula which move away from the beautiful beach of “Agamu”, which is coated by a luxuriant Mediterranean bush and by typical Flora of the brackish humid zone. The Lagoon receive the waters of the “Arrieras”, whose mouth is a stay place of the sort more representative of the Lagoon avifauna, like ducks, herons and little egret. The basin has been widened by a long dyke which it depart from the “Fradis Minoris” peninsula it join at the head land of Nora, where arise ruins of the homonymous Punic-Roman city.

The Fauna – In the lagoon numerous animals live which are unknown in other Mediterranean countries. The fauna which lives in the Pula area includes. Birds like: corsican Gull, Royal Eagle, Flamingo. Fishesb like: Eel, Gilthead Breann, Bassa. The flora – At Nora the mediteranean vegetation is present in two aspects: tall maquis scrub, low maquis scrub. The plants: chestnut tree, holly, myptle, loark oak, laurel, walnut tree, oleander, holm oak, wild, strawberry tree.

  • Nature path

An expert will guide you to the discovery of the typical characteristics of Nora Lagoon among the Nature Path, he will disclose you their characteristics and he will teach you to distinguish them. You will be able to study the characteristic species of the luxuriant Mediterranean Bush, including the Junipers, the Brooms and the Myrtle. Aquarium: The aquarium houses various species of fish which live in the Mediterranean sea. Nearby there is a large pavilion with some large tanks, where injured turtles and cetaceans are kept, the turtles hospital. These animals are cured by the staff of the Centre until they can go back to their natural habitat.

  • Canoe

Through a trip to canoe, tourists can admire the lagoon and the mediterranean bush in a sporting, fast and funny way.

2nd day: THE DISCOVERY OF THE WEST COAST

From Nora to Capo Teulada (about 40 km). Santa Margherita di Pula beach (first entrance at km 33, 8 –Road SS 195 Sulcitana), Torre Chia, Su Giudeu, Tuerredda, Torre di Piscinnì, Teulada. Duration: 1 day

 

3rd day: RUINS OF NORA TOWN, COLTELLAZZO TOWER, PATRONI MUSEUM

The history of the first city of Sardinia lasts 1600 years, from the VII century B.C. to the eighth century A.D.

Anciently Nora was inhabited by Nuragic people and later by the Phoenicians who made it an important commercial centre.

In 230 B.C. it was conquered by the Romans who enlargened the harbour.

The decadence of the city was caused by the Vandals in the fifth century A.D.
